Brighton Library

The Challenge

Jubilee Library offers local communities use of state of the art IT facilities within its IT connect room, a full business suit with five conference rooms and a one-to-one meeting room, all available to hire by the hour, per day or half day. The facilities provide local businesses, council departments, universities and local charities flexible meeting solutions with a brilliant library interior design.

Kier Group Facilities Management wanted to provide sound masking for Jubilee Library’s conference and meeting rooms and surrounding corridors to put in place a solution which would guarantee privacy and confidentiality to the users of the meeting and conference rooms.

The Solution

Working in partnership with Sound Directions, a UK distributor for Cambridge Sound Management, it was decided that the Qt® Series of Sound Masking would best suit the client’s needs.

By introducing additional layers of sound to an environment, tuned to the frequencies and amplitudes of human speech, the sound masking solution from Cambridge Sound Management masks excessive speech noise and allows environments where it is introduced to become more private, comfortable and free of excessive distractions. The Qt600 three-zone system installed by TwistedPair was connected to fifty-seven sound masking emitters across meeting rooms and along corridors in or adjacent to public areas.

Key Goals

  • To improve privacy and confidentiality for visitors
  • To enhance employee confidence
  • To provide a viable and affordable solution
  • To conduct installation out of hours to minimise disruption
  • To meet agreed deadlines

“The sound masking solution provided by TwistedPair is very easy to operate and speech intelligibility outside of the rooms is markedly reduced since the system came in to operation.”
