The Challenge
Softcat, one of the UK’s leading IT solutions providers, set out to reimagine several of its offices to meet the needs of a modern, hybrid workforce. This wasn’t simply about adding more meeting rooms, it was about creating spaces that staff wanted to be in: offices that connected people, inspired collaboration, and impressed clients.
As their Head of IT Operations, Megan Leadbetter, explained: ‘You should make the office a magnet, not a mandate.’
The Goal
The vision was ambitious – deliver future-ready offices in multiple UK cities that would:

The Solution
Twisted designed and delivered integrated AV solutions across Birmingham, Bristol, London and Manchester, tailoring the technology to each location.
The headquarters are spilt over two buildings, incorporating old and new into this modernised workplace design. The headquarters are split over 11 floors with 3.5km Fibre Optic Cable and 6km of copper cable was installed to provide the backbone for their network connectivity.
Highlights included:
- Smart meeting spaces — From 4-person huddles to a 20-seat boardroom, fitted with Sony displays, Cisco conferencing and intuitive Room Navigators.
- Collaboration zones — Bright benches, booths and scrum spaces equipped for wireless content sharing and flexible teamwork.
- Reception & breakout — LED walls in receptions and breakout areas, creating immediate impact and versatile event spaces.
- Digital signage & IPTV — Displays powered by Appspace to keep teams connected and informed.
- Background audio — Office-wide sound and microphone systems for atmosphere and live event support.
- Culture-driven spaces — From retro arcades and pool tables, to quiet focus pods and tiered seating for townhalls. Spaces designed as much for culture as for productivity.
